What the role is
You will be a key member of a project team to develop new data analytics system for STB. You will collaborate with various subject matter experts within the team, as well as other key personnel such as business analysts, data engineers, and contractors to deliver data solution that meet the business requirements of the Board and the tourism industry. You will play a key role in supporting data migration, testing, post deployment bug fixes, and developing user stories & visualization that address users' business needs.
What you will be working on
1. Data Project Management
a) Actively monitor project timelines and milestones, communicate with stakeholders about progress, and prioritize tasks as necessary to meet objectives.
b) Support data custodians by ensuring accuracy of data in system.
c) Collaborate closely with contractor to ensure comprehensive and accurate documentations linked to the data project.
2. Product Testing
a) Collaborate with development teams to understand product functionalities and data migration approach, ensuring comprehensive testing coverage.
b) Design effective and efficient test plan & test cases that confirm system functionalities and data accuracies, and ensure that invalid, unexpected inputs or conditions are effectively handled.
c) Execute test plans to ensure that data solutions meet quality standards before deployment.
d) Identify, document, and track bugs and issues, through to resolution, working closely with contractor to prioritize fixes.
3. Data Quality Management
a) Monitor migrated data and developed features, that they continue to perform as expected.
b) Support fixes and enhancements where required.
4. Data Analysis and Insights
a) Conduct in-depth analysis to identify travel & visitor trends, patterns, and insights, including cross-datasets analyses.
b) Collaborate with various stakeholders to communicate and refine finding & insights, so as to lead to actionable recommendations and outcomes.
c) Explore advanced analysis, e.g. predictive analytics and unstructured data analysis
5. Requirements Gathering, Design & Development
a) Work with stakeholders to gather and document requirements for new data initiatives or enhancements to existing data pipeline. This includes engaging users through face-to-face interactions and online tools.
b) Design and develop visualization that empower users with actionable insights. Utilize best practices in data visualization to ensure clarity, engagement, and effective communication of data, and refine visualization using agile approach for optimal user experience.
c) To work closely with team of analysts & data engineers to ensure that data refresh for the visualization has been set up in an efficient and scalable manner and be responsible for carrying out regular refresh of the dashboards.
6. Data Capability Development
a) Advocate best data practices, including appropriate use of data and data governance are upheld across data initiatives.
b) Develop and carry out internal training programs aimed at improving the data and visualization capabilities of staff within the organization.
What we are looking for
a) Strong project management, planning, time management and organizational skills.
b) Strong analytical skills with a good eye for details.
c) Good command of written and spoken English with ability to communicate complex ideas, data / concepts and outcomes of analysis clearly to business audiences.
e) Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
f) Proven track record in managing internal and external stakeholders and delivering on objectives according to project timelines.
g) Experience working with large datasets, and proficient in statistical programming tools (e.g., R), and database scripting languages (e.g., SQL), including data retrieval via APIs.
h) Experience in using Qlik Sense and AWS services (e.g., SageMaker, RDS) will be advantageous.
i) Degree from a recognised university in a quantitative discipline: Data Analytics / Data Science / Statistics / Applied Mathematics.
j) At least 5 years of work experience in a related field with demonstrable skills in user acceptance testing, data preprocessing (including data cleaning, transformation & aggregation), data management, and developing visualisation using enterprise datasets.
